The BBC calls him Ramapolo Hugh Masekela here (as does Ronnie Scott's here). On the other hand, his son here calls him Hugh Ramapolo Masekela. Very confusing. He also seems to be known quite widely as Bra Hugh. Googling 'bra "South Africa"' does not seem to give me useful answers. Perhaps a South African editor can shed some light on this.

Mar 30,  · Released as a double LP on Chisa/Blue Thumb in , Hugh Masekela’s Home Is Where the Music Is marked an accessible but sharp detour from his more pop-oriented jazz records of the ’60s. Masekela was chasing a different groove altogether.

Which brings us to , when Masekela and Hedzoleh Soundz brought their highly original music to American audiences for the first time. Thankfully, this Record Plant recording captures this historical moment in crystal clarity. One of the finest examples here is "Languta," a standout track from the above-mentioned album.
